Jane Cecilia Wortman

Jane Cecelia (Page) Wortman, age 89 of Hendersonville, NC, died Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Bridge at Lake Pointe Landing. She was born Sunday, February 18, 1934 in Burke County, NC the daughter of the late Marshall and Floy (Kincaid) Page.

She worked in an administrative capacity with the Town of Laurel Park, NC for many years before retiring. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC.

Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband, James A. Wortman, Sr., a brother, Kelly and a sister, Muriel.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Barbara (husband, Macon), her daughter Anita (husband, Ted) and her son Andy (wife, Sara); grandchildren, Caroline (husband, Daniel), Laura (husband, Steven), Jamie (husband, Matthew), Ben (wife, Yilu), Will (wife, Lisa), Dora, Ella, Janetta, Martha and Andrew; and great-grandchildren Harrison, Haleigh, James and Noel; her sister, Juanita and her brother, Allen.

A funeral service for Jane will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at three o’clock at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 538 Tracy Grove Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792, with the daughter, Rev. Dr. Barbara Dail officiating.  A one hour visitation will immediately follow the conclusion of the service on Sunday in the funeral chapel. Burial will be on Monday afternoon, March 6, 2023 at one o’clock in Forest Hill Cemetery, Morganton, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jane’s memory may be made to UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center to support the leukemia research of Dr. Joshua Zeidner, her beloved physician who guided her care.  Please make checks payable to UNC Health Foundation, with Jane Wortman’s name in the memo line.
