HENDERSONVILLE ñ Jane Harlow Peck, 81, of Hendersonville, passed away Sunday August 5, 2012 at Four Seasons Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. Born January 17, 1931 to Robert and Harriet Harlow in Camden, NJ, Jane is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Robert A. Peck, 85, son Daniel and wife Gail, son Jonathan and wife Denice, and 3 grandsons, Jason, Benjamin and Matthew. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Kenneth R. Peck in 1974.

Jane and husband Robert met as students at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, and prior to moving to Hendersonville 25 years ago, resided in Bel Air, MD. Jane was an active member of Hendersonville Kennel Club for 25 years, and introduced the ìPaws for Loveî therapy dog program to Henderson County more than 20 years ago. Jane was also a member of the Sandlapper Golden Retriever Club, the Obedience Club of Asheville and the Foothills Golden Retriever Rescue. She rescued and trained her beloved Goldens, and showed them in competitions. She is also survived by her Golden rescue dog ìPanchoî, age 12, and was recently predeceased by rescue dog ìBaxterî, also age 12.

A Celebration of Life for Jane will be held on Saturday August 11, 2012 at 1:00PM at the First Congregational Church UCC, 1735 Fifth Avenue West in Hendersonville, with the Reverend Dr. E. Richard Weidler officiating. Interment will take place at a private ceremony in Glen Mills, PA.

    I appreciate the Canine Good Citizen classes that Jane taught for 4-H for several years. She was a blessing to 4-H and to many children who owned dogs.
