Jane Self Rogers, 92, formerly of Hendersonville, N.C., died Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Rolling Green Village after an extended illness.

 

Mrs. Rogers was born in Asheville, N.C., and was the eldest daughter of the late James Carroll and Girtha Tweed Self. She graduated from Woodfin High School and Cecil’s Business College, worked as a secretary-bookkeeper, and was employed by the U.S. Navy. After raising her daughter, Mrs. Rogers obtained her real estate broker’s license. She enjoyed her hobbies of painting and doll collecting, and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

 

Mrs. Rogers is survived by her daughter, Patricia Rogers Jansen and her husband, Greg, of Greer, S.C.; grandsons Kyle Jansen of Greer, S.C., and Kevin Jansen and his wife, Elizabeth, of Inman, S.C.; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Cheadle and her husband, Robert, of Hendersonville, N.C.; and many special nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles Hugh Rogers, and by five brothers; Rex Self, Donald Self, Jack Self, Thomas Self, and Joseph Self.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Hendersonville, N.C.

 

The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Rolling Green Village for the excellent care Mrs. Rogers received.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Hospice, 429 N. Main Street, Suite #3, Greenville, S.C. 29601.
