Janet Rosamond Dill Kooker, 79 of Hendersonville, died Friday, June 6, 2008 at Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House. Born in Saco, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Ellsworth F. Dill and Muriel C. Dill and had previously resided in Maryland.

She attended Nursing School for three years and later spent one year in college. For five years, she was in the Army Nurse Corp. as a 1st Lt. A homemaker for many years, she was a member of the American Nurses Association, the P.E.O. Sisterhood chapter in Hendersonville holding the office of Corresponding Secretary for 3 years and Treasurer for 2 years. She also was a member of the DAR, a Girl Scout Leader, and was a volunteer advocate for The Healing Place for several years. An avid hiker and backpacker she loved reading and musical theater. When she was younger, she had participated in Equestrian events, including Dressage. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she served on the altar guild.

Surviving is her husband of 53 years, Joseph A. Kooker, Jr.; a daughter Julie Ann Davis of Maryland; a son Grant E. Kooker of Florida; and grandchildren Ryan Danielle Davis, Franklin James Davis, Allison Elizabeth Davis all of Maryland and David Kooker and Vanessa Kooker of Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Reverends Greg Williams and Ken Langsdorf will officiate. Military rites will be conduced by the Hedrick-Rhodes VFW Post #5206, Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post #77 and Chapter 14 of the DAV.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, 571 S.
