OBITUARY
JANET M. BROADWELL
1929 ñ 2014
Jan took her final curtain bow on December 6th at The Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, NC. She had previously spent two years at the Bridge at Lake Pointe Landing where she received the greatest of care from a wonderful staff.
Born Janet Martha Schulmeister in Buffalo, New York, she was the middle of three siblings of Fred & Henrietta ëPegí Schulmeister.
She is survived by her two natural children, Jennifer Scott of Hendersonville and Eric Scott of The Woodlands, Texas; her two stepsons, Dale (and wife Carolyn) Broadwell of Hobe Sound, Florida and Gary Broadwell of Southfield, Michigan; and her only grandson Ryan Scott of San Diego who fondly knew her as ëJanaî. Her nephew and niece twins, Curtis Johns and Wendy Fisher of New Jersey, also survive her.
Always the ìLife of the Partyî, Jan never met a stranger and lived her life beyond the fullest. Rarely a day went by where she wasnít either giving or attending a social gathering.
Her life included a career in acting where she was frequently the lead role in popular plays in college and the Delray Beach Florida Playhouse. She and her husband were active and vibrant members of the Delray Dunes GC community for many years. She also hosted her own live Saturday morning TV show, ìLeroy and Janî, and had a radio talk show in Delray Beach. If you lived in Delray, you knew Jan.
She was an advanced bridge player and was always a formidable competitor in any board game or athletic endeavor. But her game of choice was always golf, sporting an 11-handicap at Pine Tree GC, Delray Dunes GC, and Bent Tree GC in Jasper, GA.
Her truest love in life was her late husband and soul mate, Clark Broadwell, who she was married to for 25 years. An extreme partier in his own right, Clark and Jan were beautiful together and always the center of fun and attention.
Many will remember Jan Broadwell and in many different ways, but the most common remembrances will include her contagious smile, fascinating stories and the warmth and joy of her presence. God threw away the mold when He created Janet Broadwell Ö May she rest in peace with her Lord.
A celebration of her life ceremony will be held 11 am Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Elizabeth House, 571 S. Allen Rd., Flat Rock, NC, 28731.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you reply your condolences or thoughts to her son Eric at ericscott40@gmail.com, or her daughter Jennifer at jjsjazz@bellsouth.net.
