Jerri C. King, 75, of Wolfpen in Hendersonville went to be with the Lord Monday, September 30, 2013 at her home after an extended illness.

Born in Sanford, she was the daughter of the late Jack Clark and Mattie Clark Humphries. She was also preceded in death by her twin brother, Jack Adams Clark and her step-father, Ferris Humphries.

Jerri graduated from Sanford Central High School and the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for Wake and Brunswick County Health Departments, retiring in 2002. Jerri was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority in Raleigh and a member of the Red Hat Society, Turtle Watch Society, and Toastmasters of Brunswick County. Before moving to Hendersonville eight years ago, Jerri was an active member of the Oceanview United Methodist Church and their Stephenís Ministry as well as the Emmaus Community of Brunswick County. She was a current member of Balfour United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Jerri enjoyed reading, traveling, sewing, and making crafts and jewelry. She especially loved the North Carolina coast.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, H.L. ìRockî King of Wolfpen; daughter, Teresa L. King of Hendersonville and her children, Lauren Repass Garren and Katie Repass; son, Richard F. King and wife, Jeanette E. King, USAF, and their daughter, Jessica, all of Ridgeville, SC, and son, Jonathon of Oregon; sister-in-law, Helen Clark of Gloucester, VA and her children, Celeste Lawton and family and Jennifer Baucom and family; and many members of Jerriís extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm, Thursday at the Balfour United Methodist Church. The Reverends Deb Patterson and Fred Roberts will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 pm prior to the service at the church.

    Jerri was a bright spot in my life. I met her in Toastmasters, her smile and laughter were infectous. Our career paths crossed often - and we shared a few Sunday mornings at OVUMC. She will be missed by many. Our prayers are with her devoted husband and family.
