Jimmie L. Clemons, Sr., 80, of Hendersonville, NC, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at his home.

Born in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Joseph Nathaniel Clemons and Gladys Lucille Pierson Clemons, former owners of Woodfield Inn in Flat Rock for 40 years, and Grandmaís Kitchens Restaurants in Miami, FL for 45 years. He was the husband for 46 years of Gertrude Clemons, who died in 1998.

He was a veteran of the US Air Force and enjoyed a career as General Manager of several large resort hotels in and out of the US. He was a Mason and Shriner from 1955 until his death. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Hendersonville Shrine Club, PO Box 1901, Hendersonville, NC 28793.

He is survived by three children, Joseph F. Clemons of Florida, Jimmie L. Clemons, Jr. of NC, and Linda Basiewicz of Hendersonville; his sister, Joan C. Williford of Flat Rock; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

No services will be held.

    I will miss Jimmie's visits to the store at Horseshoe where I would run his lottery tickets for him. I visited him at home several times and enjoyed his stories. MAY HE REST IN PEACE.
