Jimmy E. Jacobs died August 5, 2022, at 85 after a valiant 19-year battle with kidney cancer. He was born May 15, 1937, as the only son and youngest of four children. After returning home, Jimmy worked for 32 years at Dupont’s Brevard, NC, facility and then 20 more years at Tremco, before retiring.

He and his wife Reba Jacobs enjoyed traveling, going to church, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Jimmy had a great love for college sports and even cheered for two of North Carolina’s arch rivals: UNC Chapel Hill and Duke.

Jimmy was preceeded in death by his parents Robert and Nellie May Randall Jacobs, older sisters Elizabeth Kyer and Ruth Robinson, and his grandson Sgt. Joshua Morley.

Those left to honor Jimmy’s memory include his wife Reba McPeters Jacobs; his sister Bobbie Nell Jacobs Stephens of Candler, NC; his two children Brigitte Jacobs Owens (husband Kenny) and Robby Jacobs (wife Susan); his three stepchildren Waynette Tubbs (husband Lewis), Dean Buckner, and Stephen Buckner (wife Cindy); eight grandchildren Kara Dowd (husband Mike), Kyle Jacobs, Jonathan Buckner, Holly Jacobs, Sarah Jacobs English (husband Matthew), Jessica Buckner, Justin Buckner, and Sean Buckner; two great-granddaughters Melody and Elizabeth Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
