Joan F.Wernsing, 83, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008 after a brief illness.

She raised her family in northern New Jersey and Canandaigua, NY. She and her husband, Walt, retired to Hendersonville in 1982 where she was a longtime volunteer at the food bank at IAM and Meals on Wheels.

She was the beloved wife for 56 years of Walter Wernsing of Hendersonville; loving sister of Judy Haire of Rogersville, TN; devoted mother of Linda and her husband, Bob Meredith, of River Edge, NJ; Susan Kadilak of Syracuse, NY; Dave of Dresden, NY; and Bill of Colorado Springs, CO; and cherished grandmother of Jeff, Andrea, Scott and Matt.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, c/o Council on Aging, 105 King Creek Blvd., Hendersonville, NC.
