I'm sending love, sympathy and warm thoughts from NYC to all of Joan's family and loved ones. I'm sorry that I can't be at her memorial service, but will light a candle in Saint Patrick's Cathedral as I know how much she loved living in Manhattan years ago..... Love Karen

    Angel Ball (nee Dell'aira) says:
I'll never forget our trip to England in 1990: Aunt Joan, Grandma Laura, cousin Laura and myself. Aunt Joan organized the whole thing. She was the travel guide! She told me all I had to do is show up! We started in Windsor, then Bath, York and London. I had to leave and missed their final stop in Bolton (Grandma's birthplace). Each spot was wonderful, and the bed and breakfasts were such good choices. I don't know how she found them. We stayed at the Royal Windsor B&B, the Ambleside Guest House B&B in York. Everything was timed out beautifully. I couldn't have picked a better tour guide. Joan knew such history! I don't think I ever walked so much in my life, but Grandma put us all to shame. We did almost everything by train and foot. We had several funny adventures on that trip. Just imagine us (in the pre- luggagewithwheels days), carrying our bags and grandma up the stairwells to the trains! Then we almost split up in London, when Grandma couldn't get on the doubledecker bus in time! Wonderful memories of Joan from that trip alone! We'll all miss you Aunt Joan!
