Joanie “Sue” Anderson Gardner, 57, of Flat Rock passed away suddenly Saturday, August 4, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, Mack McComas.

She was Mom, Granny and best friend to two children, Curtis Anderson of the home and Brandee Anderson Jones (Dustin) of Rutherfordton; and to her two grandchildren, Emma Kate Jones and Blake David Jones. She was also survived by her husband, Charles Gardner; mother, Joan McComas; sister, Sharon McCarson; brother, Rob McComas (Amanda); several extended family members, friends and her beloved Chocolate Labs, Tank and Tucker.

Sue had been a faithful employee at Manual Wood Workers and Weavers as a Customer Service Specialist for 33 years. She was of the Baptist faith and knew Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the first responders and good Samaritans who selflessly came to her aid.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday in the chapel of Shuler Funeral Home with Rev. David MacEachern officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:30pm until 2:00pm.

Burial will be private.

Sue and I would arrive to work at almost exactly the same time every day! She would come from one direction and I the other. We noticed that several years ago and found it a fun coincidence. We rode up in the elevator every day and she was always so kind and I enjoyed the sweet stories of her life. The elevator is lonely in the morning now. We will miss your kindness every day.
