Gifts & Memorial Donations

John D. Saxon, Jr., 87, of Hendersonville went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Pardee Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

During WWII he served as a radarman with the Navy. Before retiring, John was a Civil Engineer with the State of Florida Road Department, building roads and bridges for thirty-three years. He was a longtime member of Beulah Baptist Church. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school, spending time with his grandchildren, and telling stories. John took a lot of pride in his yard work and gardening. He lived a good, long life as a true man of God who loved his family with all his heart. He was the patriarch our family.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Frances ìDollyî Saxon; a son, John F. Saxon of Vero Beach, FL; a daughter, Valerie Jean Bergsten of Brandon, MS; four grandchildren, John F. Saxon, Jr., Amy Chisholm, Dawn Clancy, Ray Bergsten; eight great-grandchildren, Tucker, J.D., James, Austin, Sophia, Zack, Jamison, and Zack; and a brother, Tom Saxon of Ridgeland, SC.

A funeral will be at 12:00 noon, Monday at Beulah Baptist Church. Rev. Dewey Barnwell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 to 12 pm prior to the service in the church.

So Long Pal: I'll surely miss my pen-pal; all your good stories and agriculture tips; how to build a flat-bottom fishing boat and how to sort out life in general. Here's to the greatest husband to Dolly and the world's greatest family patriarch. Thank you for the opportunity to have known you. Love, Diana Rose
