John Robert ìBobî Crites, 87 of Hendersonville, went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 5, 2009 at Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House. Born in Omaha, Nebraska he was a son of the late Robert and Mary Jackson and was also preceded in death by a brother William Ralph ìBillî Crites and a sister Mary Ellen Fraser.
He was a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army, a veteran of WWII serving in the European and Pacific Theatres. He was then a member of the US Army Reserves for 20 years. He attended the University of Nebraska College of Engineering and was employed by Mobil Oil for 38 years.
He had been a resident of Henderson County for the past 14 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Christian Businessmenís Association, and the Truth Seekers Sunday School class of First Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Jean L. Crites; two sons Stanley R. Crites and Scott R. Crites both of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Jennifer A Skibinski, Matthew R. Crites, Katharine Reisbig, Nicholas Crites, and Laura Crites; great-grandchildren Ava Clare Reisbig, Abigail Crites, and Ella Ann Skibinski.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday in the chapel of First Baptist Church. Rev. Wally Shamburger will officiate. Burial will take place at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
