Joseph Peter Dangleis, 82, of Fletcher passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Elizabeth House. Joseph was a son of the late Joseph and Margaret O’Conner Dangleis and was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Maureen G. Dangleis.

Born in Buffalo, NY, Joseph graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was proud to serve and retired from the US Air Force. In his spare time, he greatly enjoyed golfing.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Mary “Dymps” Barker Dangleis; his children, Donna Whitehead, Theresa Dangleis, Margaret and David Freiert and Joe and Donetta Dangleis; six grandchildren, Sarah, Shannon, Monica, Sean, Josie and Ryan; one great-grandchild, Gracie; sister, Jackie and Benny Bottita; brother-in-law, Anthony Barker; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Youens, Patricia Sargent and Teresa Daly; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A celebration of life with military honors will be held at 12 noon Friday, November 9, 2018 at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
