Joseph S. Tursi, 86, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Elizabeth House.

Mr. Tursi served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was employed as a Steamfitter for Steamfitter Local 373.

He is survived by his daughter, Rosa Panchyshyn and husband, Hank of Columbus, NC; his daughter Marie Fasulo and husband, Tom of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY; sisters, Fran Franciosa of Ocean Side, NY, Marie Wiley of Fort Myers, FL; brothers, Mike Tursi of Liberty, NY, Luke Tursi of Monticello, NY; five grandchildren and their spouses; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, January 18 in Our Lady of the Angels Chapel of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. Father John Salvas will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Denville Relay for Life, Attn. Virginia Fasulo, In memory of Joseph Tursi, 7 Ridgedale Ave. Suite 103, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927 or Pardee Hospital Foundation, Inc., 800 N. Justice Street, Hendersonville, NC 28791 for the benefit of Pardee Family Medical Associates, Bat Cave, NC.
