Joyce Louise Brevard Duncan, born January 25, 1941, passed away through the doorway to eternal life to ìMeet her Makerî on June 18, 2009 at home with her daughter, Joyce Lee and dear friend Carol (Hospice SW) in attendance.
Born in Henderson County, she was the daughter of Mae Stewart Huntley of Bat Cave and the late Urial Claude Brevard. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David Brevard, and beloved daughter, Elizabeth Jane Person.
She leaves behind her daughter Joyce Lee Martin, son-in-law, Danny Martin, and mother-in-law, Jessie Martin, of Candler; her beloved son, Gene Carmack, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Debbie Carmack, and grandson, Christopher Carmack of Edneyville; beloved grandsons, Gene Carmack III, stationed at Marine base in Twenty Nine Palms California, and Larry Robert Heaton of Fletcher; three adored great-grandsons, Cody, Tyler and Cayden; adored step-great-granddaughter, Aydyn, born to step-granddaughter, Christie and her mate, Jimmy, of Candler; her mother, Mae Stewart Huntley of Bat Cave; her sisters, Shirley Malone of Bat Cave, Gail McCarson of Fletcher, and JoAnn Owenby and husband, Ed, of Fletcher; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Dan Blackwell officiating.
The family wishes to thank Care Partners Hospice for all their support the last 22 months. The care and symptom management they provided made it possible to have Mrs. Duncan at her home until the end. We could not have done this without the loving care and support of our nurses, Fran and Darlene, and cherished social worker, Carol, and Dr. Soufas. May God bless each of you most richly.
