Juanita Rush Evans, 89, of Hendersonville, died Friday, February 17,2012 at the Elizabeth House following a short illness. Born in Lakeland,Fl, she was a daughter of the late Annie and James Rush of Clyde, NC. Shewas raised in Clyde and graduated from Clyde High School.She was also a graduate of Mars Hill Collegeand East Carolina University.She had lived in Skyland,NC prior to moving to Henderson Countyin 1962. A talented craftswoman, she contributed her skills to the NorthCarolina Extension for the Blind and was a member of the SouthernHighlands Hadicraft Guild. She was a member of Mills RiverUnited MethodistChurch. In additon to her parents, she was preceded in death by herhusband, John Jay Evans who died in 1983; three brothers, James, Ronald andLamar Rush and three sisters, Lillian Goforth, Alveena Rush and Estelle Marr.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her daughter, Wanda Stills and herhusband Donnie of Hendersonville; two grandchildren, Scott and Andrew Stills ofHendersonville; one great-grandchild, Gavin Stills of Hendersonville; twosisters, Elaine Ensley and Elnora Peterson of Candler; a brother, CharlesRush of Cullowhee and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 5:30 Pm Tuesday, February 21, at MillsRiver UnitedMethodist ChurchCemetery. Rev. Paul B.Thompson will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately followingthe service at the residence of Wanda and Donnie Stills.
