Judith A. Harvey, 76, of Flat Rock died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Elizabeth House.

She was born in Phoenix, Arizona and traveled extensively for over 30 years with her husband during his Marine Corps and Air Force career to such interesting places as Korea, Florida, California and Virginia. She especially enjoyed living in Hawaii and Tokyo, Japan. Judith was honored with the Fifth Air Force Spouse of the Year award.

She held many volunteer positions and particularly enjoyed working with Greyhound rescue groups. Her favorite hobbies included painting, sewing and gardening.

Judith is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Charles Harvey; daughter, Deborah Chernesky and her husband, Daniel; sons, Randolph Ditmars, Martin Ditmars and Craig Ditmars; brothers, Kirk Martin and Michael Martin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a very special Greyhound, Nonni.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM Thursday, February 28 at Providence Baptist Church in Hendersonville. The Reverend Michael R. Lee will officiate. Burial will follow at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greyhound Friends of North Carolina, 2908-A Oak Ridge Road, Oak Ridge, NC 27310, or to Greyhound Rescue & Adoptions of Tampa Bay, Inc., P.O. Box 152407, Tampa, FL 33684-2407.
