Julian George Hyder, 95, of Hendersonville, died Tuesday, July 01, 2014 at the Elizabeth House. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was born to the late Malcom and Alice Stepp Hyder on October 18, 1918. He owned and operated Hyder Ditching Co. for many years. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Redden; 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Mr. Hyder is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lillie B. Hyder; daughter, Barbara H. Wilkie and her husband Kenneth W. Wilkie of Hendersonville; 4 step-sons, Ed, Tom, Bob and Larry Hawkins; brother, Rev. Glen Ray Hyder; 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, July 3, at Shepherd Memorial Park. Rev. Glen Ray Hyder will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Rd. Flat Rock, NC 28731.
