Kathleen Evelyn Wright, 68, of Hendersonville passed away October 23, 2016 at Mission Hospital.
Mrs. Wright was born in Hendersonville to the late Clayton Nix and Beulah Hill. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Benson; first husband, James Crawford; and second husband, Dwight Blythe.
She was a graduate of Edneyville High School, class of 1966, and formerly employed by Berkeley Mills and JC Penny. Mrs. Wright was a member of Upward Baptist Church for 42 years where she served as Vacation Bible School Director for several of those years. One thing that people always remembered about her was how elegantly she dressed. When she wasn’t working or spoiling the grandkids that she loved so dearly, she loved taking long walks when her health was still good. She often talked about all of the good times she had growing up on the mountain and would laugh about all of the silly things they used to do until she had tears in her eyes. I can’t tell you how many people still talk about her biscuits. Fall was one of her favorite times of the year. There is a poem titled “September” that she loved dearly. She always looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas and has left the family with a lifetime of memories of those two holidays. She was the definition of a selfless person, always putting others first.
She is survived by her husband, K.W. Wright of Hendersonville; stepdaughter, Kristan Carmonne (John) of Lexington Park, MD; sons, Anthony Crawford (Tammy) of Hendersonville and Austin Blythe of Asheville; stepson, Bradley Wright (Gail) of Hendersonville; grandsons, Tyler Crawford, Landon Carmonne, Liam Carmonne; granddaughter Kristina Crawford; sister, Marie Turner of Spindale, NC; several nieces and nephews; and Carl Witherspoon who became part of the family.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Upward Baptist Church with Reverands Paul Chandler and Dan Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah Church Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday 6-8 PM at Shuler Funeral Home.
