Kathy Shaffer, 69, of Hendersonville, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at Park Ridge Hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late George and Ruth Ann Getz. Before moving to Hendersonville in 1995, she lived in southern Florida for 39 years. She was a member of Stoney Mtn. Baptist Church, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She dearly loved the many day trips they took through the years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Benny Shaffer; three children, George Shaffer, Ruth Wynstra and her husband Terry, and David Shaffer all of Hendersonville; three grandchildren, Johnathan Wynstra of Ft. Mead, MD, Kevin Wynstra of Hendersonville, and Andrew ìA.J.î Shaffer of Davey, FL; and one brother, George Getz of Pineville, LA.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Appleby officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
