Larry R. Maxwell, 68 of Hendersonville, left his earthly body to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2009 and is now breathing freely, free of pain and struggle, reunited with loved ones who have gone on to heaven before him.
A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County he was a son of the late Rev. Woodrow and Frances Maxwell.
Larry enjoyed Costa Rica, spending his time helping others, and his family. He worked in construction most of his life, like his father before him, in addition to working at Dupont. He helped in some of the construction at South Mountain Christian Camp and even went on to build a church and school in Costa Rica.
Surviving is his wife of seven years, Dayle Gilmore Maxwell; daughter Debbie, daughter Teresa Caldwell and her husband Michael; a son Greg Maxwell and wife Kimberly; three grandchildren Kesha Hudson, Nicholas and Noah Dixon; two sisters Gail Ward and husband Wendell and Dixie Garren, wife of the late Preston Garren; one brother Doug Maxwell and wife Shirley; several nieces and nephews; his adopted tica girls Marjorie and Lissette; Leah Dixon and husband Anthony; Daniel Gilmore and wife Nancy; and a long list of cherished friends.
A celebration of his life or a party as he liked to say, will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. His friend and preacher Rev. Jimmy Justice will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
The Trip Home
Please donít cry for me when I am gone
I wonít take the trip alone
My Lord will come and take me home
Because of Him thatís where I belong
It will no longer be hard for me to breathe
I can walk or run among Godís trees
I can bow down and worship the One
The only God and His Son
There are friends and family too
If you accept Christ, you are coming too
We can sit down with Christ up there
Weíll have eternity experiences to share
We can learn more of why God loved everyone
And for this reason He sent us His Son
We can talk to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob too
Moses and Noah and the faithful crew
Noah can tell us about building a boat
With no big water on which it could float
Mary can tell us just what it was like
Caring for Christ as a little tyke
Peter can tell us about getting out of the boat
And what it was like while he was afloat
My mind is so small, so much it doesnít know
But heavenís my home and I want to go.
