LaVon was born December 27, 1922 in Elkton, IL to the late Arthur Caesar and Katherine Kinzel Shubert, the middle child of nine. She grew up on her family’s farm and loved sharing stories of her childhood. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, two brother brothers, and three sisters.
She married Paul Blanchard Campbell on November 26, 1941. They lived their entire married life in Illinois where they raised their two sons and two daughters. Their marriage was an inspiration to their children and grandchildren. Paul preceded LaVon in death on November 9, 1996.
LaVon was a lifelong seamstress and quilter. Her many quilts are being enjoyed by family members and she won numerous prizes for her creations. She loved to cook and bake and one of her greatest joys was baking pies for friends. She also enjoyed her garden and had an amazing green thumb. LaVon was also a gifted writer. Her poems and short stories show her quick wit and sense of humor and her journals are a loving gift to her family. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church.
