Gifts & Memorial Donations

Larry Weir, 75, of Hendersonville, NC passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Pardee Hospital following a brief illness. He was a native of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania and had resided in Hendersonville for the past 8 years.

He was a son of the late Lawrence and Stella Weir. Larry was employed with Westinghouse in Orrville, OH as a general foreman for 30 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard, NC.

Larry was very proud that, as a former amateur race car driver, his son and grandson are following in his footsteps. After retirement, Larry enjoyed living on his sailboat for several years. He loved and adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment that he was able to spend with them. He was a creative thinker with an uncanny ability to fix almost anything.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy; daughters, Judy Ambury, Debbie McGinnis and her husband Tom; son, Tom Weir and his wife Melissa; grandchildren, Jonathan and his wife Dominique and Justin Weir, Jonathon and Kristen Ambury, Katie, Allie, and Zack McGinnis; brother, James Weir and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be celebrated 10:30 am Saturday, September 13 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard. Father Andrew Nowak will be the Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.

    Bill & Jann Mellman says:
Larry embodied "Life Well Lived". His life was anchored in his faith in the Lord and the love of his wife & family. He would share the shirt on his back, his knowledge on a wide variety of everything mechanical and his bottle of Vodka! We are proud to call him Friend and Family! From our first anniversary celebration - April 8 - when we "did Charleston" for our 30th Anniversary (Larry & Nancy had 29 and we had 1) to laughing together as we got egg salad (that hard way) from Ingles because he wanted some at 10p in his hospital bed - we've had a wonderful life together. We look forward to meeting him in the Other World - and working on projects together! We are proud to call you, Dear Friend and "Brother".
