Lawrence Lyda, 82, of Hendersonville died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Hendersonville after a period of declining health.
A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was a son of the late Luther and Emma Clark Lyda. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Lyda, who died in 2011; a son, Gary Lyda, and three brothers, O.D. Lyda, Ray Lyda, and Doyle Lyda.
Mr. Lyda was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Lawrence Lyda Trucking since 1945. He was Master of the Masonic Lodge 387 in 1986 and member of the York Masonic Lodge of Hendersonville. He was also a member of the Shrine Club of both Charlotte and Hendersonville. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Lyda is survived by his two sons, Randall Lyda of Taylorsville, NC, and Stephen Lyda and wife, Connie, of Brevard; his daughter, Sharon Lyda of Missouri; two grandchildren, Shannon Jackson and husband, Reggie, of Missouri and Trevor McCall of Brevard; two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Michael Plaster of Missouri; sisters, Zula Vidrick of Boynton Beach, FL, and Marie Marscellino of Brooklyn, New York; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. Reverends Dan Blackwell will officiate. Burial will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 ñ 8 PM Friday at Shuler Funeral Home.
