Lisa Ann Brennan

March 9, 1955 - March 7, 2023
Lisa Ann Brennan

Lisa Ann Brennan, 67, of Flat Rock went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 7, 2023. She was born on March 9, 1955, in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.

Lisa grew up the daughter of an active-duty Navy Veteran. As such, she lived in numerous places including Rhode Island, Iowa, New Jersey, California, and North Carolina. She attended college at Santa Ana College in California where she first met her late husband, Terry. They were married on August 12, 1977. While pregnant with their youngest daughter in 1988, Lisa gained her Cardiovascular Ultrasound Technician Certificate.

In 1998, Terry, Lisa and their three daughters were called to move from Southern California to Hendersonville, North Carolina to assist dear friends in establishing a Calvary Chapel there. They left beloved family and long-time friends in California to follow the Lord and embark on what would become another life-changing and beautiful season in their lives.

On February 3, 2006, Lisa unexpectedly became a widow at age 50. Her loved ones and church family supported and upheld her and her daughters through that very difficult transition. Then in December of 2012, Lisa suffered a stroke, resulting in permanent left-sided paralysis and some short-term memory loss. She persevered through the daily challenges of her disabilities and clung to the hope of her salvation and the promises of God for her and her family’s lives. She has left them all with cherished memories and a faithful legacy in her stead.

Lisa was a beautiful daughter and sister, faithful wife, loving mother, assistant teacher, tutor, waitress and food service attendant. But most of all, she would want to be remembered as a lover of God.

Lisa’s unforgettable smile could light up a room. Her kind and caring presence touched many lives. She enjoyed being of service and helping others through teaching Sunday School classes, as well as using her gift and love of hospitality by hosting “Enjoying Marriage” ministry events with Terry. She was always thinking of others by remembering and recognizing loved ones’ birthdays and anniversaries, along with being a faithful and dedicated prayer warrior. She was currently a member of Community Chapel of Hendersonville, and was a devoted follower of Christ Jesus, her beloved Savior and Lord.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 28 years, Terrance “Terry” Michael Brennan; most recently her younger sister, Gina Marie Sabella; father, Merl Frank Stewart; younger brother, Glenn Merl Stewart; as well as beloved aunts, grandparents, and cousins.

Lisa is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Joellen (Hanwoo “Caleb”) Kwak of Flat Rock, NC, Amy Brennan (Nathan) Dunster of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Cecilia Marie Brennan of Flat Rock, NC; mother, Josephine “Jo” Marie Stewart of Cypress, CA; grandchildren, Jooeun “Junie”, Joohee “Joy”, Isaac, John Kwak and Jazlynn Ann Dunster; brothers, Gary Lee (Wendy) Stewart of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Terry Ben (Lilly) Stewart of Cypress, California; aunt, Antonia “Tonia” Caldrello; uncles, Anthony “Louie” Caldrello , Joseph “Michael” Caldrello, and Herschel Stewart; niece, Crystal R. Stewart; nephew, Benjamin M. Stewart; along with many beloved cousins.

    John and Donna Lingenfelter says:
Peace, Love, Joy and Gentleness were four of the fruit of the Spirit that stood out from Lisa’s many attributes. We enjoyed seeing her each week because she was always smiling and enjoyed fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ. We ask the Lord to give her a special hug in paradise for being so faithful to Christ and so loving to us.
