Lloyd Elaster Kusler, 86 of Etowah, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at his home. Born in Fredonia, North Dakota, he lived Omak, Washington for many years, before retiring to Henderson County in 1996. He was a son of the late Reinhold and Ann Etta Jantz Kusler.
A graduate of Washington State University, he was a Nuclear Engineer for GE. A member of the ASME, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, he loved the outdoors, especially hiking Mt. Rainier and WSU and Tarheel basketball. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Virginia Lee Howard Kusler; his children Keith Kusler and wife Jan of Eatonville, Washington, Karen Lee Viser and husband Tim of Cleveland, Tennessee and Bob Kusler and wife Ella of Nantucket, Mass.; grandchildren Matthew Viser and wife Anne of Arlington, Virginia, Rebecca Lee Viser of Takoma Park, Maryland, and Finn Reinhold Kusler of Nantucket, Mass.; two great-grandchildren Benjamin Lee Viser and Abigail Shelton Viser; sister Velma Schmidt of Vancouver, Washington; brother Clyde Kusler of Rockland, Fla.; and sister Eyvonne Sloan of Nashua, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, February 28 in the chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. Mr. Joe Gernoske will officiate. A reception will be held in the funeral home following the service.
