Mack Bradley, 86 of Saluda passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.

A World War II veteran, he served in the Army in the Pacific Theatre with the 805th Engineer Aviation Battalion. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and two Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button World War II, and the Marksman Badge and Rifle Bar.

He retired from Dupont.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth Corn Bradley of Saluda; his children, Elizabeth Burns, Gerald Bradley, Monica Franklin, Cynthia Hayes, Teri Bowman, Tina Varnadore and Percy Bradley; thirteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Saluda. The Reverend Curtis Pace will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77, Hedrick-Rhodes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5206, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14. The family will receive friends from 6 ñ 8 PM Tuesday in the chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

    My sincere condolences to the family. I worked with Mack at Dupont for many years. I first met him in the Casting department more than 40 years ago- he was older then and I was about 21. I have never forgot him and the kindness he displayed to everyone. He was a true gentleman!
