Margaret Porter, 90, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, formerly a long-time resident of Ancram, New York, died peacefully on Thursday, November 8, 2012.

Mrs. Porter grew up in Boston Corners, New York, one of seven children of Olga and Jacob Hilpertshauser. Margaret was married to J. Hoysradt Porter “Mike” of Ancram, NY in 1942. Mike passed away in 1988. Margaret was an active member of the Columbia Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church, the Ancram Fire Company Womenís Auxiliary and a Life Member of the Roe Jan Historical Society.

Two daughters, Kathy Brengel of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Sandra Madison of Taos, New Mexico, survive Margaret. Four grandchildren, Paula, Michael, Christopher and Matthew; her son-in-law, George Brengel and Alan Madison; 15 nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Kathryn Connelly and husband Dan of Loveland, Colorado.

There will be a memorial service near her former home in New York in the spring of 2013. The family requests that donations in her memory be made to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the care of Shuler Funeral Home, Hendersonville, North Carolina.
