Martha Ann “Granny” Blankenship McEntire, 86, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late Verne and Ruth Cagle Blankenship. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Duncan, son, Larry Shipman, Sr., and brothers, Henry and Jack Blankenship.

Before retiring from General Electric, Granny McEntire was an employee of Chipman LaCross Hosiery Company. She also worked at the Moose Lodge until the age of 80 and was a member of Upward Baptist Church. Granny McEntire enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Crossman of Fletcher; sons, Paul Shipman and wife, Wanda, of Tryon; Jonnie Corn of Shelby; and Ronnie Corn of Rutherfordton; son-in-law, Jerry Duncan of Rutherfordton; daughters-in-law, Deborah Shipman of Anderson, SC, and Barbara Corn of Boiling Springs, SC; eighteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Blankenship and wife Betty of Virginia, and Edward Blankenship and wife, Kathy, of Arden; and sisters, Dorothy Gibbs of Hendersonville, and Elsie Barnes of Asheville.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, February 17, 2018 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Shuler Funeral Home.
