Mary O. Hendricks, 92, of East Flat Rock, NC, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.

She was born in Greenwood, SC, and was wife of the late William O. Hendricks. She was also preceded in death by two children, Mary Louise Smith and Joann Pace, and by three stepchildren, Billy, Eddie and Madge.

She lived in Henderson County most of her life and was a member of Shaw’s Creek Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who loved children and loved caring for foster children.

She is survived by her loving family, three children, Martha Hendricks of East Flat Rock; Sarah Frances Gilliam of Flat Rock; and June Audrey Hester of Greenville, SC; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:15 AM Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Shaw’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend D. Lewis Staton will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:45 AM Saturday at Shuler Funeral Home.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at the Elizabeth House.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

    Martha, Francis, Michelle, Wanda, Glen ,Steve,and beloved grandchildren, if mom was able she would be there for you and I think each of you will understand why she is not. She prayed for grandma often and always asks about her. She would tell you if she could that grandma is with her dad, sons and daughters that passed on before. She loves you all very much.
