Michael John McMinn

Michael John McMinn, 64, of Hendersonville passed away Tuesday, May 29, at Mountain Home Health and Rehabilitation. A lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was a son of the late Jesse Albert and Polly Kate McMahan McMinn. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Idella Middleton and Dorothy Leona Henderson and three brothers, Kenneth Golden McMinn, Jesse Norman McMinn and Ray Terry McMinn. He was a graduate of Edneyville High School and had served in the U.S. Army. He was a residential carpenter and avid musician. Guitar was his favorite instrument and he shared his musical talent as a private instructor. He attended Locust Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. McMinn is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Rosie Walker McMinn; two sons, Tim Drennen of Brevard and Chris Drennen of Asheville; two stepchildren, Marie Justus and her husband Christian of Hendersonville and Josh Slowik of Hendersonville; three sisters, Noma Lee Taylor and her husband George of Hendersonville, Elena Williams and her husband Doyle of Dana and Lois Tucker and her husband Tom of Hendersonville; two brothers, Jerry McMinn and his wife Bert of Colorado Springs, CO and Rick McMInn and his wife Sandra of Tuxedo; five grandchildren, Holli, Brianna, Cody, Baylee and Freya and four great-grandchildren, Carter, Logan, Uniyah and Caydan. Also left to cherish the memory of their Uncle Mike are many nieces and nephews who fondly remember him as their gentle giant with the sweet smile.
A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, June 4 at Locust Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Blackwell will officiate.
