Mike Edmundson, 59, of East Flat Rock, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, June 15, 2009 from the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.

Born in York, SC, he was the son of the late John L. and Louise Henderson Edmundson. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Elsie Rhodes.

He lived most of his life in Henderson County, graduated from East Henderson High School, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was a welder with Jackson Steel for 40 years and also enjoyed scuba diving.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Margaret Turner Edmundson of East Flat Rock; his son, Stephen Edmundson and wife, Claudia, of Zirconia; his grandson, Tyler Edmundson of Zirconia; three brothers, Arnold Edmundson and wife, Nell, of Miami Lakes, FL; John Edmundson and wife, Carolyn, of Mills River; and Jerry Edmundson & wife, Becky, of Hagerstown, MD; and two sisters, Marlene Garren and husband, Ben, of Flat Rock, and Susan Roberts and husband, David, of Clover, SC.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Grace Baptist Church. Pastors Dayton Walker and David Milligan will officiate. Burial will follow at Fruitland Cemetery on Townsend Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731, or to Grace Baptist Church General Fund, 2703 Spartanburg Hwy., East Flat Rock, NC 28726.

    Mike was one of my dearest friends for almost forty years. Some friends come and go but Mike was always true. I never liked to call him an employee because he and I worked side by side for so many years.I will greatly miss my friend "IronMike".His smile ,talents,work ethics and integrity is hard to find in one man .
