Mildred ìMickieî Sellars, 84 of Hendersonville went home to the Lord on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Brian Center.

Born in Jacksonville, Fla. she was a longtime resident of Tifton, Georgia a daughter of the late Olin and Lillian Sellars. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Bettye S. Sachs and Lorena S. McMillan.

For over 30 years, she served a Director of Christian Education in numerous United Methodist Churches in the North Georgia area before becoming a consecrated lay worker and then diaconal minister. She also enjoyed volunteering with Friends of Santa Claus and cheering up sick children as ìSunnyî the clown. She was a member of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 28 in the Memorial Garden of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Debra Gaddy will officiate.

    Mickie was a special person, always had a smile and kind word, a very gentle person. I was privileged to sit with Mickie during a long illness several years ago and I learned a great deal from her. Very sweet lady!
