Mildred Price, 95, born August 21, 1917, of Hendersonville, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at her home.

A native of Berkely, SC, she was the daughter of the late Boston and Florett Price. She is also preceded in death by three brothers, Benny, Andrew, and Julian; and two sisters, Jeanette and Mazie. Mildred lived most of her life in Hendersonville and worked as a private duty nurse up till she was 90 years old. She was a member of St. Paul’s Tabernacle Church A.M.E. Zion of Hendersonville.

Mildred was very active in the community and had a lot of friends which she enjoyed. She loved her family and friends and they loved her. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Pickens; three grandsons, William Monroe Pickens, David Jonathan Pickens, and Elliot Nolan Pickens; six great-grandchildren, Hazel Juanita Pickens, William Monroe Pickens, III, Jazmine Pickens, Jade Pickens, David Pickens, Jr., and Julia Pickens; daughter -in-laws, Debra and Carla Pickens; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. She will be interred at Oakdale Cemetery.

    Aunt Mildred will be truly missed by me. I will never forget the visits to Hendersonville to see her and the many phone calls we made to each other. She cared alot about the Price family.
