Gifts & Memorial Donations

Nancy Jane Tanker, of Hendersonville, North Carolina died suddenly at her home on November 12, 2021. She was 58 years old.

Nancy, known for her beautiful smile and quick wit, was born and raised in Haddonfield, New Jersey. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with Honors, from Rutgers University. In 1997, Nancy and her then husband left the hustle and bustle of New Jersey and followed their hearts to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. She spent many years as a writer and editor, writing for a time at the Hendersonville Times News, and worked in advertising for a number of local businesses, including Diamond Brand Outdoors and The City of Hendersonville. She was known to like a good debate and hiking with her dogs in the woods. She is missed greatly.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Sophie Tanker and brothers, Paul (Nancy) Underwood and Ken (Maria) Underwood.

A Celebration of Life event will be planned for a later date.

I'm only reading of Nancy's passing at this very moment. Nancy and I met in kindergarten at Elizabeth Haddon Elementary School in Haddonfield, were childhood buddies, graduated from HMHS together and remained close until her move to NC in 1997. It was always a sad void in my life that we then lost touch. Life. My condolences to Nancy's daughter and brother's Paul and Ken whom I remember well. Rest in peace my funny, little friend with the big, saucer eyes, infectious laugh and hilarious wit.❤

I’m just now hearing about Nancy’s death. I’m so very sorry. Nancy, my sister Terri and I were good friends as kids growing up in Haddonfield. We spent many days at the Underwood home and I remember her parents and brothers being so nice. My sister Terri Quigley Meyers passed away one day before Nancy on 11/11/2021. I pray both these beautiful, high spirited girls are together again, telling stories and laughing about all of their shared memories. May Nancy Rest In Peace. Deepest condolences to the family.
