Ora Mabel Crosby, 94, of Hendersonville passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.

A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was born May 17, 1915 in the Dana Community, the daughter of the late Joe Albert Crosby and Sarah Louisa Capps Crosby. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Hattie Belle Crosby Johnson; her brother, Joe Thomas Crosby; two nephews, James and Robert Crosby; her niece, Mary Crosby Allman; one great-great-niece; and one great-great-nephew.

Mrs. Crosby graduated from the former Dana High School in 1933, one of four honor students. She was saved, baptized and united with the First Wesleyan Methodist Church in 1931.

She is survived by three nephews, Thomas Eugene ìPeteî Crosby and wife, Linda; Joe Willie and wife, Frances; and Donald Ray Crosby; eight great-nephews; seven great-nieces; a number of great-great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-great nephews; and one great-great-great-niece.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, April 19, 2010 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The Reverend Mike Engle will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bethel Wesleyan Church Cemetery on Tracy Grove Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Joe, Frances and Donald Crosby.
