Phyllis Cissne, 89 of Hendersonville, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the J.F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville.
She is the daughter of the late William D. Johnson and Eva Jeanette Figard Johnson. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Bobby Johnson. Phyllis had lived in Hendersonville for over 25 years and attended Fruitland United Methodist Church and Mud Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Robert P. Cissne; four children, Robert E. Cissne and his wife Gerry, Cynthia L. Drumheller, David A. Cissne, and Nancy Bailey and her husband Chuck; eleven grandchildren, Mike Cissne and his wife Cathie, Rachel Carabell and her husband Rob, Brian Cissne, Becky Cissne, Scott Drumheller and his wife Carrie, Peter Drumheller, Matt Drumheller, Nicole Warren and her husband Brad, Ben Bailey and his wife Cassie, Scott Carpenter and his wife Debbie, and Sue Beranek and her husband Tom; nineteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Barb Balasco and her husband Ron; a sister-in-law, Dee Johnson; special nieces and nephews, Ron Balasco, Susan Witt and her husband Jeff, Glen and Kurt Heintz, Sonja Norwood, John Cissne, Jackie Konstanturros, and Paula Johnson; and a special friend, Virginia Welke.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 20, 2013 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Warren officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
