Reverend Billy H. Landreth of Etowah, NC went home to be with the Lord early Thursday evening, January 5, 2023 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC. 

Rev. Landreth was born on Monday, August 12, 1935 to the late Russell and Kathleen (Metcalf) Landreth.

For ten years Rev. Landreth was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. He served the Lord as bi-vocational minister, pastoring churches in Henderson, Buncombe and Transylvania counties for over 60 years. Anyone who knew him knew he was a pastor and minister to all. He also worked for Ecusta Corporation for many years and also with North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance CO. where he retired in 1996.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 67 years, Betty (Powell) Landreth of Hendersonville, NC.  He is also survived by his adoring children, his daughter, Beverly L. Smith-Plemmons of Hendersonville, NC and her husband, Larry and his son, Barry H. Landreth of Etowah, NC. He will be deeply missed by his grandson, Tyler B. Smith of Valdosta, GA and his wife, Brittany and his rambunctious great-grandson, Niles.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Judy L. Lusk who died in September of 2001.

A funeral service to celebrate Rev. Landreth’s life will be two o’clock Thursday afternoon, January 12, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, 312 5th. Avenue, Hendersonville, NC. with Rev. Steve Scoggins and Rev. Ray Talley officiating. The family will receive guests from 1:00 to 1:45 pm in the sanctuary of the church prior to the service.  Internment will follow at Blue Ridge Garden of Memory in Pisgah Forest, NC.

Memorial contributions may be offered on behalf of Rev. Landreth to the Gideons International, P.O. #140800 Nashville, TN. 37214 or to the donor’s choice.

Billy will forever be missed by his loving and devoted wife, children, grandson, great-grandson, family and many dear friends.  May God Grant Him Eternal Rest.

Arrangements are in the care of Shuler Funeral Home, 125 Orr’s Camp Road, Hendersonville, North Carolina.
