Richard David Serena, 50, of Hendersonville went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 12, 2012 at his home unexpectedly.

A native of Orangeburg, SC, he was the son of the late Edward & Grace Serena. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Serena and a nephew, Terry Croft.

He has lived in Hendersonville for 30 plus years and was employed by AAA Septic Company for the past 17 years. He was a member of Piney Mountain United Methodist Church and was a member with the WNC Patriot Guard Riders. He loved to fish and was an avid motorcyle rider.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Serena; two sons, Matthew Reece and Bradley Reece; a step-son, Brian Cunningham of Hendersonville; a granddaughter, Mia Cunningham of Hendersonville; a sister, Cindy Serena-Elliott and her husband Eric of Hendersonville; a brother, Warren Serena of TN; sister-in-law, Katie Serena; two nephews, Brandon D. Serena USAF of FL and Randy Serena of TN; and four nieces, Jessie Serena of TN, Tina Pou of SC, Denise Opperman of Hendersonville, and Amanda Langevin of IN.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Piney Mountain UMC, 14 Piney Moutain Church Road in Candler, NC.
