Richard Gene Nicholson, 67, of Hendersonville, NC, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Pardee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Brevard, NC, he was the son of the late Richard Eugene Nicholson and Jessie Marie Nicholson Swayngim, and the husband of Mary Lou Nicholson who died in 1988.

A 42-year resident of Henderson County, he was a welder by trade and the owner of Chicoís Restaurant. He was a member of the Hendersonville Pentecostal Holiness Church and loved music and playing the guitar.

He is survived by his sons, Stewart Nicholson and wife, Sandy, and Steve Nicholson and wife, Gina, all of Hendersonville; two stepsons, Paul Dobbs and wife, Heather, of Hendersonville, and Jerry Dobbs and wife, Taria, of Enka; and seven grandchildren, Megan Nicholson, Katelyn Nicholson, Garrett Nicholson, Alex Street, Savannah Dobbs, Amber Dobbs and Jay Dobbs.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Sunday at the Hendersonville Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Reverend Anthony Craver officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery in Tuxedo. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
