Robbie S. Young, Sr., 77 of Hendersonville, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Elizabeth House after a long illness. A native of Louisville, KY he was a son of the late Rubin and Ethel Arnold Young. He was the husband of 58 years to Ethel Stepp Young who died in July of 2010. Prior to moving to Hendersonville in 1953, he resided in Morristown, and Sevierville, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by several siblings, including a special sister, Tyree Gordon.

A US Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Young helped to open and make successful, the first Hendersonville branch of the former Clyde Savings Bank. He retired from Clyde Savings Bank in 1999 where he was the Manager/City Executive. He had also worked for the former First Federal Bank. He was a former member of the Homebuilders Association of WNC, where he had served as Treasurer, the Elks Club, and the Lions Club. He was also a former member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville.

He is survived by one daughter, Pam Dickson; three sons, Robbie Young Jr., Mark B. Young and Scott D. Young; grandchildren, Gus Young, Jeremy Young, Emmy Young, and Keri Stepp; two great-grandsons Mason Boyd Young and Max Stepp; one sister-in law Vera Orr; and one brother-in-law, Charles Stepp; and other family members, Melinda Moffitt, Donna Moffitt, Lisa Moffitt, Sherry Moffitt, Dennis Moffitt, Chris Moffitt, and Jenny Moffitt.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 28, at 3:00pm in the Kirby Memorial Chapel at Shuler Funeral Home. Reverend Mike Engle will officiate. The family will receive friends at their family home.
