Robert “Bob” Shore of Laurel Park, N.C., passed away February 27, 2013, following a long journey through Alzheimer’s disease. A native of California, Bob and his wife, Marilee, have lived in this area over 25 years.
Bob graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Business. He worked for GE for 38 years as a District Manager in the Industrial Sales Division, located in Schenectady, N.Y., Chicago/Oakbrook, Ill., and Pittsburgh.
During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy, in the Officer Training program.
Bob loved music and sang in a barbershop chorus, and church choirs, occasionally as a soloist. He enjoyed playing golf and bridge, and developed new talents by acting in several productions at Hendersonville Little Theatre, and drawing pastel portraits. He loved to grow roses for his wife, and the couple spent many summers traveling the U.S. and Canada in their camping van. Bob served on many church and community boards, including head of the Laurel Park Planning Board from January 1992 to October 1997.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Marilee; and by an older sister, Ellen (Sheridan) of Big Bear Lake, Calif. He was previously married to Joyce Watson Shore, the mother of Bob’s three daughters: Janna Packard (Sean Palmer) of Powell River, B.C., Canada; Jill Auburn (Walter) of Chevy Chase, Md.; and Lisa Shore of Richmond, Va.
Grandchildren are Clancy (Cindy) Palmer of Vancouver, Canada, and Holly Palmer currently of London, England. Great grandchildren are Ava, Roan and Nylan Palmer. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday March 5, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Brunson Chapel of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Martin officiating. At 1:00 p.m. friends are invited to greet the family in the Royell Allen room adjoining the chapel.
