Robert “Bob” Joseph Kempster, Sr., 77, of Hendersonville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Elizabeth House. Born in Crystal City, MO, he was a son of the late Alena Bell Stokley Kempster Posey and Harry Joseph Kempster.

Bob served in the US Navy and later retired from the North Carolina National Guard. He was employed by GE and retired after 28 years. He then retired from Polk County after 14 years as an administrator for the jail.

Bob, an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed these outdoor sports with his sons, grandsons, and close friends. He enjoyed family cookouts and loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Cora Marie “Betty” Drake Kempster, two daughters, Antoniette Ward of NY and Sonya Kempster Morgan (Chris) of Burnsville; two sons, Bobby Joe Kempster (Sherry) of SC and Kenny Kempster (Stacy) of Rutherfordton; five grandchildren, Graham, Grant, Kayla, Madison, Emily; one great-grandson, Jackson; two sisters, Mary Kempster of Mountain Home and Patty Kempster of Swannanoa; one brother, Billy Kempster (Cheri) of Forest City and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 3pm on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Shuler Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Chris Morgan and Rev. Matthew Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30-3:00 pm prior to the service.
