Gifts & Memorial Donations

Robert James Joubert, 66, beloved husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, and friend, went to be with Jesus on Friday, July 31, 2015.

On November 24, 1948, he was born to Gene and Ann Joubert in Norwich, Ct. When he was nine years old the family moved to Hendersonville. He went to Hendersonville City Schools, graduated from Hendersonville High, UNC-A, and received his masterís degree and administration degree from Western Carolina University.

He started his teaching career at Edneyville Elementary and Edneyville High School in 1970, and continued to teach there until the opening of North Henderson. He taught special education for 23 years before becoming assistant principal at Flat Rock Middle School. He remained there until he was forced to retire because of health issues.

He was always for the less fortunate and made a positive impact on both adults and students. He had a way of making something good come from a difficult situation. He had a calming spirit and loved everyone and everyone loved him. Robert was a father figure to so many young men. He was a Godly man and a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 57 years.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 45 years, Rose Mary; daughters, Joy Joubert and Tara Joubert, both of Etowah; his precious grandson, Moses Joubert; granddaughter-in- love, Beverly Elmore; son-in-love, David Elmore; best friend, Dot Case; sister, Mariane Adams and her husband Larry of Charlotte; brother, Ronald Joubert and his wife Cheryl of Woodstock, GA and their children, Keith Joubert and his wife Melissa, of Hendersonville, and Paul Joubert and his wife Ami, of Woodstock, GA and their children, Mia and Addi; sister-in-law, Cheri Pryor and husband Gary, of Edneyville and their children, Adam, David and Denise; brother-in-law, Dennis Griffin and wife Susan of Hendersonville, and their children, Mandi, Laura and Andrew; and a special cousin, Sister Charles Marie of CT. He also leaves behind many, many dear ones who were not related. We have been blessed beyond measure with family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Alan Huffman and staff, especially Lisa Harris, who was his vascular nurse for 20 years, Dr. Robert Bailey and his staff who were so caring, the Mtn. Home Fire Department, and the Hendersonville Rescue Squad for their kind service.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Martin Schratz officiating. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. My heartfelt sympathy to Robert's family in his Homegoing. We went to high school together, though he was a couple of grades ahead of me, and I have known him thru the years and during his days at Belk. I am so sorry for your loss, but so thankful Robert is out of his pain and is with the Lord. May God bless, comfort and strengthen each of you in these days and week ahead! With Deepest Sympathy ~ Alton Connor
