Robert K. (Bob) Tindall died on April 30, 2010 at Carolina Village.

Born on April 24, 1916 in Canton, Ohio, Mr. Tindall received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Iowa in 1940. He was the Assistant Dean of Men until he entered the U.S. Armyís Counter Intelligence Corps in 1942. He served in the South Pacific and Washington, D.C. before being honorably discharged in 1946.

Mr. Tindall then worked for the U.S. Foreign Service as a Security AttachÈ, assigned to the American Embassies in Copenhagen and in Paris. In 1953, he returned to the United States, living in Arlington Heights, Illinois with his wife, Mary, and three children. He joined Cleworth Publishing Company, Chicago, where he had a distinguished sales career until retiring as a Regional Vice President in 1979. Mr. Tindall was an active church member, and served as both a Deacon and an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, as well as teaching adult and youth classes and volunteering as a musician.

After retirement, Mr. Tindall and his wife moved to Hendersonville, NC. Always deeply committed to his faith, he served as an Elder, a Bible Study teacher, on the search committee, and in a Covenant Group. He was a member of Civitan and was honored as the Civitan Man of the Year in 1995.

Mr. Tindall was an avid musician from an early age and played the trumpet, coronet, and recorder. He performed in community symphonies, bands and various church ensembles in Arlington Heights and Hendersonville. He enjoyed coaching and encouraging young musicians. He loved literature, golf, cribbage, and doing his crossword puzzle in ink.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary; his sons Jim Tindall, Naples, FL, and Rick Tindall, Bloomington, IL; his daughter Marcia Hinkle, Crofton, MD; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 13, 1:30pm at First Presbyterian Church.
