Rosemary (Rosie) Royse Mills, 90, of Port Charlotte, FL, died Wednesday, the 12th of September, 2012, at the Elizabeth House, a Hospice House, near her daughtersí homes in Hendersonville, NC.

She was born April 29, 1922 in Amity, IN to Charles and Monta Sutherland Royse. After her motherís death later that year, Charles married Angeline Sutton Leser. Rosie was lovingly raised on their farm in Amity and was a 1940 graduate of Edinburgh High School. In 1941, she married her high school sweetheart, Dan Mills. They recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. They resided and raised two daughters in the Indianapolis, Indiana area and were charter members of Southport Christian Church.

Dan and Rosie moved to Punta Gorda, FL in 1986 where they have been active members of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church.

Rosie was lovingly devoted to her family, loyal to her many friends and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Mills; daughters, Sharon Mills of Hendersonville, NC, and Judy Mills Gower of Punta Gorda, FL and Hendersonville, NC; nephew and niece, Bill Leser and Patricia Leser Allen, both of Franklin, IN; a great-niece and great-nephews; and close family friends, Deirdre Hulihan and Susan Doty Pardue.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Hortense Royse Leser, and her brother-in-law, Charneal Leser, both of Franklin, IN.

A memorial service Monday, September 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, Punta Guda, FL. A reception will follow at 1:00 PM at South Port Square in Port Charloote, FL. The flowers are being provided by www.charlottecountyflowers.com at (800-342-6730)

    Dan, Sharon and Judy, So sorry for your loss, Rosie was always so much fun to be around. Her wit and smile would always light up a room. I always enjoyed all the cookouts, church time and swimming in the pool. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you proceed in life.
