Ruth Lucina Deon, 83, of Edneyville, NC, died Tuesday morning, September 16, 2008 at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Flat Rock, NC, after an extended illness.

Born in Bangor, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Clarissa LaPage, and wife of the late Robert Deon. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Connie and Cris Deon, two sisters, and three brothers.

She had lived in Henderson County for four years.

She is survived by seven children, Robert and Karen Deon; Roger and Eileen Deon; Ralph and Mary Deon; Caroline (Shaw) and John Drought; Betty and Billy Whitt, Sr.; Jack and Teresa Deon; and Sarah Filicia; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 5 PM Thursday, September 18, 2008 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The Reverend Debby Bradley will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 ñ 5 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
