Stephen John Lirot

Stephen Lirot, 75, of Hendersonville, NC, died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Life Care of Hendersonville.

Born in Montreal, Canada, he was the son of the late Stephen Leo Lirot and Elizabeth Schneider Lirot.

He was a US Army veteran. Before moving to Hendersonville in 1993, he had resided in Illinois, Ohio, New York and Connecticut. He received his Masterís degree in food science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1992, he retired as the Director of Quality Assurance from the Nestle Company after 35 yearsí service. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley Webb Lirot of Hendersonville; three children, Gregory Lirot and wife, Christina, of Darien, CT; Cynthia Kaufman and husband, Rick, of Lincolnton, NC; and Michael Lirot and wife, Sandra, of Plano, TX; grandchildren, Gregory Lirot; Neil Kaufman and wife, Robin; Karen, Eric, and Amanda Kaufman; Christopher, Connor, Camden, and Caleigh Lirot; great-grandson, Scott Kaufman; and his sister, Diane Bergeron and husband, Roy, of Wallingford, CT.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Thursday, August 7, 2008, in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The Reverend John Aurilia will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731, or to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund, 208 7th Avenue West, Hendersonville, NC 28791.
