Susanne Eugena Rollins

Susanne “Susy” Rollins, 74, of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord, and join her earthly family who have gone before her, on Thursday, November, 10, 2022.

Susy was born in Miami, Florida on June 11, 1948, to the late Levin H. Rollins, Jr. and the late Jeanne Frances Ware Rollins (according to her, both of whom were the best parents anyone could have ever been blessed with.)

She graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1966. While in high school, Susy volunteered summers at the VA Hospital, and after graduating, she held several jobs in Miami and Gainesville, Florida. After many years of vacationing in Hendersonville, she moved here permanently in 1980, and became a member at Fruitland Baptist Church, where she was the church secretary for 16 years, and also enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. She worked  for almost 21 years in the Human Resource office of Henderson County Public Schools, before her retirement in 2012.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Levin H. Rollins, Sr. and Lola McClenney Rollins; her maternal grandparents, Graham S. Ware and Willa Carlisle Ware; her dear brother, Levin H. (Bud) Rollins III; her paternal aunt, Hazel R. Taylor and her husband, Gil Taylor and her maternal uncle, Thomas C. Ware and his wife, Mary Ware.

Also, she is preceded in death by her many dearly loved pets- most notably Chief, her magnificent Clydesdale horse; More and Kayne her dogs brought from Miami; and other dogs, Sam and Cyrus; along with several sweet cats, Guinevere, Tiger, Lucky, Smokey (who appeared as a kitten the very day Susy’s mother passed away).

She is survived by her niece, Beth Michelle Rollins; nephew, Bryan Michael Rollins; great-nephews, Max and Henry Allison; cousins in Michigan and Arizona along with her much loved and spoiled cats, Tippy and Cali.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Fruitland  Cemetery with Pastor Craig Stepp officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Fruitland Baptist Church.

    Linda P MacCaffrey says:
Susy and I have known each other for 50 years. We went to junior and senior high school together and both volunteered at the VA Hospital. We lost touch after we graduated and reconnected about 12 years ago. My family and I went to North Carolina for vacation and she came to the cabin we were staying at with all sorts of goodies. We spent the whole day together catching up and we both said it was like we picked up where we left off. Susy came to Florida to visit friends and she was able to stay with me and do some local site seeing. We kept in touch via the mail, Facebook, etc. She was very active with her Church family and enjoyed singing in the choir. Susy had a smile for everyone and was a kind, caring and thoughtful person. Susy had a large extended family and friends. I will miss her dearly but feel very blessed that she was my friend for such a long time. Pinky (a/k/a Linda MacCaffrey)
